MY APPROACH

Decor that’s in your image

To offer all of my clients a unique and distinctive decor, I first establish contact and develop a relationship of trust with each one. This lets me size up their personality, energy and ambitions, which helps me propose a decor or layout that is functional, stylized and most importantly, reflective of them.

I guide my clients as best possible throughout each turnkey project. To give you an idea of the way I work and to demonstrate the scope of my expertise, here is a step-by-step summary of the approach I take in turnkey design projects. My goal is to make sure that every project meets your needs, expectations and most of all, your deepest aspirations.

1.

First meeting

After talking on the phone or exchanging emails, we will schedule a first meeting, which will be of vital importance. It will help me to get to know you and learn about your vision for your project. I will meet you at your home or the site where the work will be carried out, so that I can immerse myself in your environment, ascertain your needs and expectations and establish the constraints to respect, such as the budget and work schedule.

We will discuss all the details and steps involved in carrying out your project. After this meeting, I will give you, either right then or at the latest the next day, a service agreement that indicates my fees and all of the project steps.

If you agree to the terms, all you have to do is sign and give a deposit by Interac transfer or cheque. This is when the project officially begins!

2.

Research and creation

Depending on the terms of the service agreement, I will start researching and developing your project’s concept. Based on what we discussed during the first meeting, my research and any images you will have provided me, I will get into creative mode to visualize what the space will look like and to produce the design plans. I will also contact my suppliers to research the materials that will be needed, such as the flooring, countertops, doors, backsplash, light fixtures, accessories and more. This will help me put together a visual presentation of the layout I’ve created for you.

3.

Presentation of the plans

This is the moment you’ve been waiting for! During this meeting, I will show you what I’ve come up by presenting the design plans and 2D elevations, so you can picture the spaces you will soon be enjoying. You can indicate which changes you would like me to make, if any, during this step in the process.

The 3D colour rendering option is a key tool that lets you take in the entire concept at a glance. It will help you confirm that the proposed choices are the right fit for your dream project!

4.

Quotes from contractors

Once you’ve approved the final plan, I’ll send the necessary information to my subcontractors, to get quotes for the work that will need to be done. I always contact several to get the best price for your project and to make sure there are resources available at the moment that best suits you.

Another advantage of doing business with me is that I can get discounts on certain materials. You will benefit from carefully curated elements at a great price.

5.

Approval of the estimate

Once I’ve heard from all of my material suppliers and subcontractors, I will prepare a detailed estimate of your project’s costs based on the choices you’ve made. I will present all of this information during our third meeting. To confirm the start of the work, you will be asked to make a deposit equivalent to 50% of the project’s value, by Interac transfer or cheque, upon signing the quote. All materials must be paid in full prior to each delivery, so as not to delay the work.

6.

Project realization

The work can now begin!

Completion dates will vary according to the size of the project and the availability of the different subcontractors. That said, they will be set before the work begins.

Each trade will be using the same version of the plan. If any changes are required, I will make them and will inform everyone on the job site. I’m also in charge of coordinating the work with the general contractor, who will provide everyone involved in the project, including the client, with the work schedule.

I am the one who orders the materials and makes sure everything is delivered at the right moment.

I regularly follow up with the different trades throughout the project to make sure the deadlines are being respected and everything is running smoothly.

I handpick each contractor to make sure they are respectful of your living spaces and that you can keep living in your home while the work is underway. The workers will sweep at the end of each day, to leave the site as clean as possible.

7.

Delivery

Once the work has been completed, I will accessorize the space (if you chose this option at the start of the project). I will do a final walk-through of the site with you to make sure that everything has been carried out according to the agreement. You will be asked to pay the remainder of the amount indicated in the service agreement at this time.
